Overview
Safety briefings were long, text-heavy and delivered on a desktop portal field crews rarely opened. Compliance was logged, but comprehension on site was a real concern.
I produced a series of two-to-three-minute filmed lessons — each covering one hazard — designed to be watched on a phone, in the yard, minutes before work begins.
The challenge
The audience wasn't at a desk. Lessons had to survive bright sun, noise, work gloves and a 30-second attention window between tasks.
The approach
Every choice optimised for the real viewing context: on-site, mobile, in a hurry.
One hazard eachEach film does exactly one job, so crews watch only what’s relevant today.
Show, don’t tellReal demonstrations and motion graphics over narration-heavy slides.
Captions-firstDesigned to work muted, with bold captions for noisy environments.
Vertical-friendlyFramed and exported to read clearly on a phone held one-handed.
The solution
A library of 12 short films, colour-graded in DaVinci Resolve with motion-graphic callouts from After Effects, captioned and exported for both the LMS and a mobile-friendly link crews can open from a QR code on site.
